St Marys
St Marys is a small township located north-east of Hobart at the junction of the Tasman and Esk Highways. Via the Midland and Esk Highways it is 217 km from Hobart and via the Tasman Highway it is 222 km. It is 128 km east of Launceston via the Midland and Esk Highways and 600 m above sea level. It had a population of 682 as of the 2016 census,although in the early 2000s it was one of the fastest growing areas of Tasmania. Its amenities include a craft gallery, bakery, accommodation, shops and supermarkets, and the St Marys Hotel, built in 1916, which dominates the town centre. There is no visitor information centre in St Marys. The closest is St Helens Visitor information Centre, 61 Cecilia Street, St Helens, tel: (03) 6376 1744 and to the south is the Bicheno Visitor Information Centre, 41b Foster Street, Bicheno, tel: (03) 6375 1500 |

Campground 30 Harefield Rd, St Marys Camping & motorhome stays permitted adjacent to the Oval and Golf Course, with excellent facility includes an amenities block with toilets, coin operated hot showers and a blackwater dump. Donations are appreciated. Experience the ambiance, local country hospitality and peacefulness of the surrounding by mountains. Pets are permitted. Easy access to a 2 hour walk to St Patrick's Head on the eastern edge of town. |
